Fine Art Painting by Jeanne Osenbaugh

I have painted my whole life. At a young age of 9 or 10, I rode my bike around to paint local scenes, embracing the beauty of plein air painting. I still love painting outdoors, where there's something special about soaking in the scenery and letting the natural light guide each brushstroke. I also approach my paintings alla prima, allowing each brushstroke to flow instinctively. This method captures the essence of the moment in a single, uninterrupted session—no overworking, no layering, just pure, spontaneous expression on the canvas.

After graduating high school in Hutchinson, Kansas, I joined the United States Navy from 1974 to 1980. Afterwards, I worked at Singer Link from 1980 to 1991. In 2005, after studying at Broome Community College (now SUNY Broome) and Binghamton University, I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Human Development (Art Therapy) and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting. While pursuing my degrees, I also studied printmaking, sculpture, photography, and portrait art, earning awards in both schools.

I am very proficient in all mediums, including watercolor and oil painting, as well as acrylics, charcoal, colored pencil, 2D and 3D design, and sculpture.

Although it’s not my motivation for creating art, I am very proud of the many awards I have won over the years, including accolades from FASST, BCAC, Colorscape, July Fest, Montrose, Owego, Roberson, and others.
